HOT TEA NOT YOUR THING? TRY THIS RECIPE…

In many countries around the world, conventional wisdom says that a hot drink can cool you down on a hot day, so being the tea lovers that we are, we endeavoured to find out if this was fact true, or simply an old wives tale.

As it turns out, a researcher at The University of Ottawa’s School of Human Kinetics decided this was a question worth pursuing, and a study was subsequently published in 2012 on body heat storage and hot fluid ingestion. The short answer is, yes, a hot drink can cool you down, however this is mostly due to the increase in perspiration, and subsequent evaporation from the skin, which has a cooling effect.

If that doesn’t sound appetising, our recipe for tea infused icypoles might just be for you.

We’d recommend freezing a few of our favourite blends. To make a batch of these icypoles, you’ll need:

– An icypole tray or two
– Love Tea White Rose and Goji, Moroccan Mint or Floral Love loose leaf tea
– Filtered, boiling water
– You can also add in a few berries and floral petals

To make, simply place 2-3 tsp of tea into a teapot or infuser. Add boiling water and steep for 2-3 minutes. Remove the tea leaves, but allow the tea to cool to room temperature. In the mean time, take some of the tea leaves and petals, and place them in the tray. Once the tea has cooled, pour the tea into the tray and freeze. You can add in a berry into each icypole for a little more flavour. Don’t forget to share your creations with us over on Instagram.

Or for something with a dash of vodka, you can head over here, where we shared the recipe for a White Rose and Goji infused cocktail, created for us by the team at Teatini.
