FAQ's

Health and Wellness

How many cups per day should I drink of my wellness teas?

We recommend using 2.5 grams (1 heaped teaspoon) per cup, and 1 to 3 cups of tea per day. For our Sleep tea, we recommend 1-2 cups, 30 minutes to 1 hour before sleep. For our Fertility tea, we recommend 2-3 cups per day. Each blend has more specific dosages and directions listed in each description in our online store.

Which blends are vegan?

The Love Tea range is certified organic and we source each ingredient directly from plantations around the world, to keep ingredients as close to their natural state as possible, and to ensure optimum therapeutic benefit and integrity. We don’t use any artificial sweeteners, or flavours in our blends and we only use herbs, tea and spices.

Our Honey Spiced Chai is our only blend that is not classed as a vegan product, as it uses locally farmed honey.

Which blends are FODMAP friendly?

Most ingredients used in our blends are low FODMAP herbs, teas and spices. But please take the time to read the ingredients listed for each tea so that you can make sure the ingredients suit your exact dietary requirements. As each individual can tolerate different amounts of certain foods, it is best to go through each blend to see what fits best with your current state of health. Our Honey Spiced Chai is not recommended, as the blend contains high fructose content from the honey. Turmeric Tea, Peppermint, Dandelion Chai, Lemongrass and Ginger and Digestive tea may be beneficial for those wishing to support digestive function and gut health.

Which blends are caffeine free?

You can find our range of Caffeine Free teas here and you will also find “This blend is caffeine free” stated on each applicable product description.

How much caffeine is in your black teas?

Generally black tea contains approximately 25mg caffeine to 1g of dried tea and approximately 5.5mgs of caffeine per 30mls of brewed tea.

In regards to our blends that contain ingredients with and without caffeine (for example, our French Earl Grey tea is made from a blend of organic ingredients; black tea, rose petals, corn flowers and bergamot essential oil), the above amount of 5.5mgs of caffeine per 30mls of brewed tea would be less for such blends.

Help – my question isn’t listed here.

The best thing to do is to send us an email. Our naturopath Emma is a wealth of information on all of our blends, and has carefully created each tea to suit different needs and requirements. We will pass your questions on to her, and she will respond as soon as possible.

Which teas can I give my children to drink?

Chamomile, Chamomile Vanilla, Peppermint, Lemongrass and Ginger, Caffeine Free Chai and Calming are some of our gentle, caffeine free options which children may enjoy. We recommend 1-2 cups per day for children, using 0.5g (half a teaspoon) of tea.

Pregnancy

Which blends are safe to drink during pregnancy?

Just as every individual has a unique constitution and a different state of health, a woman’s pregnancy can be just as unique. Our pregnancy range has been formulated to support and optimise women’s health for each specific part of the pregnancy journey. Unfortunately, we cannot design blends, which are perfect for everyone’s specific health requirements as each individual is so unique. We trust that you will be guided by your own state of health and personal wellbeing and simply use our blends which are appropriate for you.

We recommended that you do not drink these blends if you are taking medications, if you suffer from hypertension, or if you are seeking other medical treatment. If you are unsure about any of the ingredients or potential interactions, it is extremely important that you seek advice from your health care practitioner.

We have composed our list of blends, which are most appropriate for each trimester as a guide, but as with everything in pregnancy, please do not consume anything that you don’t feel comfortable with, or if you feel you may have an issue with any ingredients at all, we recommend you avoid it.

PRECONCEPTION:

To begin your journey into motherhood, our naturopath has designed a Fertility blend, which helps to support natural conception and increase your fertility potential. Red clover, chaste tree and raspberry leaf, have traditionally been used to support hormonal balance, regulate the menstrual cycle and support reproductive health.

This blend was designed to assist with natural conception, as an alternative to undertaking IVF treatment. We do not recommend using this blend in conjunction with IVF treatment, or with any medications, as the effects on the hormonal system may interfere with IVF treatment or certain medications, at a time when hormones must be strictly controlled and monitored. This blend is not recommended for individuals suffering from hyperprolactinaemia or raised prolactin levels.

We recommend drinking 2-3 cups of the Fertility tea per day. Once you fall pregnant we recommend you discontinue taking Fertility tea.

TRIMESTER ONE:

Once conception has occurred, you may like to try one of the following teas: Caffeine Free Chai, Chamomile, Chamomile Vanilla, Lemongrass and Ginger, Peppermint, Calming, Rooibos and Morning Wellness.

Our Morning Wellness blend has been designed to support a women’s health during the first trimester and is based on herbs, which have traditionally been used to reduce nausea and stabilise blood sugar levels. Peppermint, Cinnamon and Ginger have traditionally been used to support digestive function, reduce nausea, and balance blood sugar levels. Subtle tones of Lemon balm offer nervous system support to help calm your mind and body. This blend is based on certified organic ingredients, it is caffeine free and contains only natural herbs, tea and spice. We recommend 1-2 cups of this blend per day.

TRIMESTER TWO & THREE:

We offer a Pregnancy blend for pregnant women, which can be consumed from week 13 onwards. This blend is based on herbs that have traditionally been used to support pregnancy through trimesters two and three. These herbs including nettle leaf, chamomile and ginger, have traditionally been used for their nutrient-dense qualities, and to support the nervous system. We recommend 1-2 cups of this blend per day.

Other blends that pregnant women may enjoy during the second and third trimester include; Caffeine Free Chai, Chamomile, Chamomile Vanilla, Lemongrass and Ginger, Peppermint, Calming, Rooibos, Caffeine Free Chai, Coco Orange, Floral Love and Turmeric tea.

TRIMESTER THREE:

During trimester three, pregnant women may continue to enjoy our Pregnancy tea, or any of the blends listed for trimester two.

Raspberry leaf tea has traditionally been used to support women during the third trimester and during post birth recovery. You may like to add it to your Pregnancy tea during trimester three or take it on its own. Raspberry leaf has been traditionally been used during the later stages of pregnancy to strengthen and tone the uterus, in preparation for childbirth. Raspberry leaf is nutrient rich, and can also be taken post birth to help promote healthy recovery.

Throughout pregnancy, we do not recommend you consume any blends, which support detoxification. Detoxification may encourage the release of toxins that have been stored away in your cells, to travel back into your blood stream, which may expose the fetus to the toxins. We don’t recommend you consume any blends, which contain licorice, as this may contribute to hypertension. We also recommend pregnant women avoid excessive stimulation from caffeine, and we believe caffeine free blends are more appropriate at this time.

Which blends are safe to drink while breastfeeding?

Our Breastfeeding tea was designed by our naturopath and is based on herbal galactogogues including fennel, fenugreek and caraway seeds, which have traditionally been used to support healthy lactation and ease digestion for both mother and baby. This blend is certified organic, and caffeine free, and completely free from any flavours, and sweeteners and we don’t use any ingredients which are not natural. This blend has become one of our most popular items and we have had a great deal of positive feedback from women specifically suffering from poor lactation, and lacking milk supply, who have taken this tea and had positive results. We would recommend this blend if a Mother is lacking in milk supply and is looking to increase milk production, or if her child is suffering from digestive issues or colic. We recommend drinking 1-3 cups of this blend per day.

If you are breastfeeding, our Chamomile, Chamomile Vanilla, Lemongrass and Ginger, Peppermint, Calming, Rooibos, Caffeine Free Chai and Turmeric tea are a few blends you may also enjoy. These teas are all caffeine free and additional details on each blend can be found by clicking on each blend listed above.

As with everything during pregnancy and breastfeeding, we have designed our blends to generally be of benefit to most women, but each individual’s state of health is unique, and we trust that the individual will avoid any herbs, tea or ingredients which may not be appropriate for their state of health and well-being.

Sustainability

What makes your products certified organic?

We believe products that are the best for your health are the ones that have no hidden ingredients and no unnecessary additives or flavours. At Love Tea we choose to use high quality, certified organic ingredients, sourced directly from around the world. We believe organic ingredients taste better and are better for the environment. We are Australian Certified Organic.

What sustainable practices do you have in place?

We are dedicated to donating 1% of annual revenues to a range of environmental organisations worldwide. We feel it is our environmental responsibility to reduce our negative impact on the environment and continue to support non-for-profit organisations who are working towards improving the natural environment.

What is your tea bag material made from?

We are happy to say that we use a biodegradable mesh that is made from plant starch for our pyramid tea bags. The material we use for these bags is called “Soilon”, which is produced in Japan and has met all compostability standards in Japan, North America and Europe. We have personally tested the biodegradability in our own home compost and found that they break down well in our good, warm, composting environment.

What are your plastic bags made from?

The plastic bags that the tea is packed into are actually biodegradable plant-based cello pouches, made from renewable resources. We spend thousands of dollars per year to ensure we provide a more environmentally friendly biodegradable option for our customers. They are not polypropylene bags like most plastic bags, which means you can compost our cellos and they will break down.

How can I compost Love Tea packaging?

Both our pyramid tea bags and the cello pouch that the tea is packed into, are biodegradable. Having tested the decomposition of these items personally, we did find that the starch needs the right balance of moisture, heat and PH to break down effectively. We recommend composting them in a warm environment, and not just simply placing them on the garden.

Are your products fairtrade?

We fairly source the majority of our ingredients directly from the growing communities and cooperatives who produce them. We pay fair trade premiums for the ingredients purchased from fair trade farms and continually strive to learn more about the challenges that the growers face in their regions.

Where do you source your ingredients?

It depends on the blend and the seasons. As many factors, such as environmental and economical changes can affect our raw ingredients, the plantations and countries can change from season to season. Each blend has an “Origin” tab, which lists the countries from which we source the ingredients in that particular blend.

Our Products

Are your products grown in Australia?

The ingredients in our teas are not grown in Australia. On our website, each product has a tab titled “Origin” and this states the countries that supply the ingredients for that product. We always ethically and fairly source our tea and ingredients, and as a result, we always pay a premium for them. Once they arrive in Australia, we blend them and pack them in Victoria. We only have one blend which is 100% grown, produced and packed in Australia, and that’s our Australian Sencha. It is grown on a plantation in Northern Vicotria, and is one of our finest blends. You can find it here.

Why does your packaging look different?

In August 2016 Love Tea underwent a significant rebrand. We decided to rebrand for two main reasons. The first was to ensure our packaging reflected the product inside, and remained natural, and honoured the natural botanicals we use. The second was that we wanted to ensure our brand story was communicated clearly to our customers.

The packaging has changed – have the teas changed as well?

We understand that many of our customers are concerned about this, but we can guarantee that our recipes are exactly the same as those that you loved before the re-brand. We haven’t changed a thing in that department.

Can I buy tea from your warehouse?

Unfortunately at the moment we do not have the facilities to accommodate this from our Geelong warehouse. We are working toward opening a retail shop front in the near future, but in the mean time would like to redirect you to our Stockist page. Here you can type in your postcode and get a comprehensive list all our stockists in the Geelong area. You can also purchase directly from us online, and if you order over $60, you’ll receive free shipping.

Do you send out samples to customers?

We are a small family run business, based out of a warehouse in Geelong where we pack our tea by hand, and we do our best to keep up with our many stockists and online orders. As a result, we find ourselves so busy that we don’t have much in the way of samples. We hope you can understand that it is impossible to send a free sample of tea to every customer who asks. We suggest heading to one of the many cafes that stock and serve our blends, and to try some of our tea there, all while supporting a local business. You can type in your postcode and get a comprehensive list all our stockists in your area on our stockist page.

Do you send out samples to cafes and stores?

We are always keen to hear from potential stockists, and we encourage you to contact us. You are welcome to request samples when filling out the form, however, as we do our best to keep up with our many stockists and online orders, we find ourselves so busy that we don’t have much in the way of samples, as can only send a limited selection.

How do I become a stockist?

We’d love to hear from you if you’re a café or retail space who wants to stock our product. We encourage you to fill out our Become a Stockist form with as much detail as possible so that we can learn a little more about you and your business.

Can I become a brand ambassador for Love Tea?

We’d love to hear from you. Head over to this page and send us an email. Don’t forget to clearly outline your intentions and how you hope to support the Love Tea brand.

Will you sponsor my event?

We’ve designed our Sponsorship Request page just for this very purpose. Please do keep in mind that we often are overwhelmed with requests for samples, and as we hand pack each one, at times don’t have sufficient stock on hand to be able to supply every request.

My Order

Do you ship worldwide and how much is it?

We currently have international shipping available to Japan, Canada, U.S.A, U.K and New Zealand. We can send parcels to other international destinations, so if you are from an international location other than those listed and would like to place an order with us, please email us with a detailed list of your order, and a mailing address. That way we can determine the shipping cost, based on weight, and discuss shipping options with you via email. You can send your enquiries to info@lovetea.com.au

When will my order be shipped?

We aim to dispatch any order received within 1-2 business days. If there is a delay for any reason, we will notify you as soon as possible. Any express order placed prior to 12pm will be dispatched the same day.

How can I track my order?

Upon dispatch, we send an email to inform you that your order has been completed with us, and is on its way. You should also receive an email with a tracking number, either from Fastway Couriers or Australia Post. Please contact us if you do not receive this tracking information.
