    Hot tea not your thing? Try this recipe

    In many countries around the world, conventional wisdom says that a hot drink can cool you down on a hot day, so being the tea lovers that we are, we endeavoured to find out if this was fact true, or simply an old wives tale.

    As it turns out, a researcher at The University of Ottawa’s School of Human Kinetics decided this was a question worth pursuing, and a study was subsequently published in 2012 on body heat storage and hot fluid ingestion. The short answer is, yes, a hot drink can cool you down, however this is mostly due to the increase in perspiration, and subsequent evaporation from the skin, which has a cooling effect.
